A good school session is about much more than technically sound pictures. It’s about finding worthwhile photos of every child — and then making them easy to organise, review and deliver. That second part takes a surprising amount of time.
SmartCull started with a nursery photographer friend of ours, who spent two to three hours sorting each group’s photos after every shoot — child by child, frame by frame. We built the software to take that first pass off their hands: one place to sort a large session, see the stronger photos for each child and prepare a selection without losing the photographer’s judgement along the way.
The software can spot the problems that slow down a first edit and make useful suggestions. It can’t know which spontaneous smile a parent will treasure, or which unusual expression captures a child’s personality. That’s why the final selection stays yours: SmartCull handles the repetitive first pass; you make the decisions that matter.
SmartCull is an independent service developed and run in Hungary. Photos are processed on our own servers in the EU — never sent to third-party AI services, never used to train models — and deleted automatically after the session. The legal details of the service provider are in our imprint.
